Duties for 2026

Please sign up for your Duties via the Duty Roster link here or the Volunteering button in the Portal Menu.

Whether you race or cruise, as a members club, we rely on all members to contribute with duties. Without this contribution the club would not be there to store your boat, enjoy the lawn, use the slipway or to just potter about on the water. It's also a great way to meet fellow sailors!

In 2026 things will be a little different. The main changes are;

• If you do not do duties then you will not be able to store your boat at the club - we're limited on space these days which is a nice problem to have so priority will always go to those that do their bit for the club.
• Members can only sign up for two Wednesday evening duties - they're an easier option than a weekend duty and everyone should have the opportunity to do them (they are the first to get booked up)
• If you are a Race Officer or Safety Boat Driver you will not be able to sign up for Safety Boat crew (unless they have a good reason!) - we're really short on the former so prioirity has to go to them.

As a reminder, by signing up for membership at SSC you are committing to doing four duties. More details on duty types can be seen at the link here.

We are of course sympathetic to those with injuries, illnesses or other mitigating circumstances that mean they cannot do duties but please let us know it will be treated in the strictest confidence.
